May is finally here! It’s crazy to think that we have made it here already but as I look around my classroom, it is amazing to see all the growth these students have made. The month of May will be busy as always as we continue our learning even further and enjoy our final full month of school together in room 108!
Topics for the Month of May
Reading: We are working on a unit all about talents and special abilities. We will be wrapping up our unit with our very own talent show! Students will have a week of in class time to work on a reflection of their talent. This could be a demonstration, a viewing of their artwork, or a performance of some kind. Please discuss with your child what talents they might like to share with their classmates!
Math: This week we are completing a mini unit on Graphs and Data. Soon we will be starting our final unit which focuses on shapes and their attributes. We are on track to finish all 15 math units before the end of the school year so we will use any extra time to review as well as start trying out some 3rd grade math!
Writing: We have wrapped up our opinion writing unit and will be talking about poetry next and learning about unique language usage.
Science and Social Studies: We are finishing up our animal projects with the 8th grade within the next couple of weeks. We will also be continuing to learn about plants and hopefully beginning our unit on maps before the end of the month.
